Disrupting Home Heating: The Smart Radiator with an Integrated Battery

How This Radiator's Integrated Battery and Energy Management System Revolutionize Smart Heating

Read time: 3 minutes

Hi all!

Welcome to issue #2 of Future Powered, where we showcase innovative products and services to make your home smarter and more energy efficient. We cover everything from smart appliances and devices to solar panels, heating, EV chargers and more.

Let’s dive in.

What you should know

Description

Lancey is not just an ordinary radiator; it's a smart radiator with an integrated battery. This device features a self-learning system and can seamlessly connect to your solar PV panels, optimizing peak/off-peak consumption to reduce your electricity bill.

What sets Lancey apart?

Lancey goes beyond a typical radiator by acting as a comprehensive energy management system. Here are three key differentiators:

  1. Integrated storage battery: At the bottom of the radiator, Lancey houses a small battery that can store solar energy generated by your PV panels. This energy can power electrical devices and the Lancey radiator itself. While you can’t expect to have the same capacity as a regular battery, having it integrated in the radiator allows for a more optimised system.

  2. Energy management system: Lancey is equipped with built-in sensors for air quality, brightness, temperature, and proximity. It also accesses external data, such as weather forecasts and electricity rates, to continually optimize comfort and energy consumption based on real-time information.

  3. Monitoring app - Through the dedicated app, users can remotely manage temperature settings, monitor energy consumption, track energy generated by the PV system, and more.

The bigger picture

What Lancey is doing is no small feat: you need to get a radiator, a battery system and an energy management system with access to electricity rates and weather forecast or other data to do what Lancey is able to do in an integrated form.

Most people can’t afford separate battery systems, which can cost over $5000, high-end energy management systems that come with a hefty price tag.

While the battery capacity may not be sufficient to power an entire home, it fulfils basic energy needs.

This is what the future of smart heating looks like for me - integrated systems that heat your home based on your habits and needs.

Price and availability

Lancey is available in France for 2000€.

That’s all for today.
